Shades of Blue
The piece is a woodblock print on washi paper, created using oil colors and printed by hand with a Baren and a book press.
The theme explores meditation through abstract forms, focusing on repetition, color, and pattern. Repeating the same image creates a hypnotic, mantra-like effect, leading to a mild trance that calms the overstimulated mind. The use of large color surfaces enhances emotional impact, encouraging relaxation.
Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), the work aims to evoke the calming effects of nature, particularly through the use of blue and green hues, which are prevalent in nature and known for their soothing qualities. The goal is to foster a sense of soft fascination and involuntary attention, creating a serene experience that promotes mental and physical well-being.
